In this season, the show went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up the second half-hour with episodes from previous seasons and some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. This entire season, along with the second half of season 6, is available on Garfield and Friends: Volume 5 DVD s et. Also wor th notin g is that here , a new theme song was added that was wr itten b y J.R. Johnston and Neil Panton. Th e theme was sung by J.R. Johnston. This them e song w as not shown inte rnationally, a nd as a res ult, i t does not appear on t he DVDs (altho ugh Garfield &#3 9;s quotati ons are kept intact) . This new i ntroductio n sequen ce used most clips fr om Seasons 5-7 and a fe w from the fir st two s easons, as wel l as Garfiel d in Paradise a nd Garfield&a mp;#39;s Fe line Fantas ies.
