In this season, the show went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up the second half-hour with episodes from previous seasons and some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. This entire season, along with the second half of season 6, is available on Garfield and Friends: Volume 5 DVD set. Also wor th noting is that h ere, a new theme song wa s added that was written by J.R. Johnsto n and N eil Panton. Th e theme wa s sung by J.R. Johnsto n. This th eme song was not sh own inte rnationally, and as a r esult, it do es not ap pear on t he DVDs (althou gh Garfi eld& #39;s quota tions are kep t intact). This new intr oduction sequ ence used most clips from Seasons 5-7 and a few from th e first two sea sons, as wel l as Garfie ld in Paradi se and Garfi eld's F eline Fantasie s.
