As "Alone" enters its fourth season, the competition series shakes things up with a new twist: the contestan ts are droppe d off i n a remote location as pairs . Seven pair s of family members trav el to a ru gged region of British Columbia, where they ar e separated and dropped off mil es apar t from each oth er. Each playe r must n avigate th e wilderness t o locate his or her p artner. Once re united, the lo ved ones have to creat e their o wn shelte rs and forag e for their food w hile overcom ing rou gh weathe r conditions an d deadly pr edators. They have not hing mor e than the c ontents of their small backpacks and 10 tools s plit between t hem to help wit h their surviva l. They also ha ve enou gh camera gear to record their exp eriences because -- as in t he past -- ther e is no camera crew.
