As "Alone" enters its fourth season, the competition series shakes things up with a new twist: the contestant s are drop ped off in a r emote location as pairs . Seven pairs o f family members trav el to a rugge d region o f British C olumbia, where they are separ ated and dro pped off miles ap art fro m each other. E ach player mus t navigate the wilderness to locate his or h er partner. On ce reunited, the loved ones have to cr eate their ow n shelters and fo rage for their food wh ile overcom ing rough weat her conditions and deadl y predators. They have not hing more than the conte nts of the ir small backpa cks and 10 tools s plit between t hem to h elp with their surv ival. They als o have enough camera g ear to rec ord thei r experie nces because -- as in the past -- there is no ca mera crew.
