Cobb plays Walter Mitchel l the owner of a c ompany that is determine d to keep t he unio n out of his shop. His part ner does n ot agree, and only wa nts the workers to have a livi ng wage. He dies in a n accident . Kerwin Math ews palys his son Ala n, who c omes back to New York after a long abs ence.
