In this season, the show went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up the second half-hour with episodes from previous seasons and some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. This entire season, along with the second half of season 6, is available on Garfield and Friends: Volume 5 DVD se t. Also worth noting is that here, a new theme s ong was added tha t was written by J.R. Joh nston an d Neil Panto n. The theme w as sung by J.R . Johnston. Th is theme s ong was not sho wn internationa lly, and as a result, it does not ap pear on the DVDs (alth ough Garfie ld&# 39;s quotations are kept intac t). This n ew introducti on sequence u sed most cli ps from Seas ons 5-7 and a few from the fir st two seasons, as well as G arfield in Para dise and Garfield& ;#39;s F eline Fant asies.
