In this season, the show went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up the second half-hour with episodes from previous seasons and some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. This entire season, along with the second half of season 6, is available on Garfield and Friends: Volume 5 DVD set. Als o worth not ing is that here, a ne w theme song was added tha t was writt en by J.R. Joh nston and Neil Pan ton. The t heme was sung by J.R. Johnston. This theme so ng was not shown internati onally, an d as a result, it does no t appear on the DVDs (alt hough G arfield& #39;s q uotations are kept int act). T his new introd uction seque nce used mo st clips from Seasons 5 -7 and a few fr om the fir st two seaso ns, as well as Garfield in Paradise an d Garfield ' s Feline Fantas ies.
