In this season, the show went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up the second half-hour with episodes from previous seasons and some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. This entire season, along with the second half of season 6, is available on Garfield and Friends: Volume 5 DVD set. Also worth noting is that here, a new theme son g was added tha t was w ritten by J.R. Joh nston a nd Neil P anton. The them e was sung by J.R. J ohnston . This the me song w as not shown in ternationally, and as a re sult, it d oes not appear o n the DV Ds (althou gh Garfield&a mp;#39;s q uotations are kept intac t). This ne w introd uction sequenc e used mo st clips fr om Seas ons 5-7 an d a few f rom the first two seasons, as w ell as G arfield in Para dise and Garfield&am p;#39;s Feli ne Fant asies.
