At the begi nning of 2 259, Ca ptain John S heridan replaces Si nclair as the m ilitary gove rnor of th e station. He and the command staff le arn that t he death of President Santiago wa s actually an assassina tion maste rminded by Vice Pres ident Cla rk (who a ssumed the Pr esidenc y upon Sa ntiago&am p;#39;s death). A conflict d evelops between th e Babylon 5 com mand staff and the Psi C orps, an i ncreasingly a utocratic organiza tion which over sees and co ntrols the liv es of human te lepaths. Comma nder Ivanova , the second- in-command of the station, is secr etly a l atent tele path who h as illicitly av oided registe ring with th e Psi Co rps. The S hadows, an anci ent and e xtremely pow erful race who have rec ently emer ged from hi bernation, ar e revealed to be the caus e of a varie ty of mysterio us and disturbi ng events, including t he attack on th e Narn outpost at the end o f 2258. Centaur i Ambassad or Lond o Mollar i unknowi ngly enlis ts their aid t hrough his association with the my sterious Mr. Morden in the o ngoing con flict w ith the Narn. The elderly a nd ailing Cent auri empero r, lon g an advocate of recon ciliation with the Narn , dies sud denly wh ile visiting Babylon 5. A n umber of conspirators, including Londo M ollari and Ref a, take con trol of the Ce ntauri governme nt by assass inating their opponent s and placi ng the late e mperor&a mp;#39;s unst able nephe w on th e throne. Their first act is to start ope n aggressio n against t he Narn. After a ful l-scale war bre aks out, the Centauri e ventually conqu er Narn in a brutal att ack involvi ng mass drivers , outlaw ed weapons of mass destructio n. Towards the end of the year, the Clar k administrati on begins to show in creasing ly totali tarian c haracteristics , clamping down on dis sent and rest ricting freedo m of speech. The Vorlons are revealed to be the bas is of lege nds about an gels on various wo rlds, incl uding Earth , and are the anc ient enemies of the Shado ws. They enlist th e aid of S heridan and the Babylon 5 com mand st aff in t he struggle aga inst the Shadows.详情
