Set in isolat ed, rura l France makes this fi lm all the mor e desperat e. The film is abou t strenuous re lations hips, loyalt y - and despair . It is about accept ing har dships without really u nderstandi ng them. It is also about pity and how it is to be distinguis hed from l ove and admirat ion. I&am p;#39;ve se en many French fil ms with the s ame intensity a nd I'm guessin g that it will be mostly the French wh o will en joy this f ilm. The acting is superb in t his film – if you&# 39;re in th e right state of mind and don& amp;#39;t lo ose you r concentr ation. Jean-F rançois Steveni n ALWAYS impresses me. H e doesn&am p;#39;t disap point me here e ither. For general audie nces, how ever, I'd recommend his performance in "Deu x Lions au So leil&am p;quot; which is much mor e easil y palata ble than & amp;quot ;Peux de Vache s" .
