He vi sits his estr anged wife Vera , a chemis t who i s involved with a gr oup of exil es tryin g to smuggle th eir compatriots out of Liquidatzi a. Almkvist, an honest local police man and f ormer lov er of Vera& ;#39;s, conta cts her while investigating the death of one of the ref ugees. Natas has a list of agents op erating in the host coun try and want s to sell t hem to the Am ericans.
