Griff Bonnel l (Sullivan ) and his br others arrive i n a small, Arizona town. He is a U. S. Marshal look ing to arr est Howar d Swain (Chuc k Robers on), coincide ntally one of landow ner Jessica D rummond’s (St anwyck) 40 gun s. The town is bein g terrorized and trashed by Brockie and his boys . He’s an arrogant dr unk and bully but when he shoots an o ld buddy of Griff’ s, he and h is broth ers inte rvene. Griff strides purpos efully to wards the actio n, unconce rned at th e mayhem g oing on. Br ockie’s buddies rec ognize the la wman and fl ee but the d runk Br ockie doesn’ t know or care. Ful ler cut s back and fort h between a close-up of Gr iff’s ey es and Brock ie’s gun repeatedly until the climax when G riff finally reaches Rocky and knocks hi m unconscious with a p unch.
