But, of course, it is not by chan ce that it is the destiny of a famous po litical figure , Boris Ni kolayevitch Ye ltsin, that b ears a special accent in the film. Though he got to powe r followi ng quite t ypical way s, his unc ommon c haracte r puts him o ut of the ordi nary, and in the author’s op inion it may be d etermined by his u ncommon human nature. O ur hero exists within the tra gic pattern of the soviet soc ialist l ife.
